Africa and the Afro-Diaspora is rich with various dishes that are in danger of fading from our collective memories. The Black Heritage Cuisine Database from Zetashi looks to document such recipes.

Our definition of a Black Heritage recipe is one rooted in Black culinary history that is somewhat obscure and may actually be in danger of being lost to future generations. We fully recognize that “obscurity” is relative to each individual. But we take a generous view and welcome all entries in order to ensure we document as much as possible of our rich culinary traditions. Lastly, we publicize all entries on this website and on our social media channels with the necessary acknowledgments.
